GAME DESIGNER
Immersive Tech is looking for a Game Designer to support the design and development on the Uncontained VR project team. This role will be on our design team, primarily focused on the design of game mechanics and player interaction. The successful candidate will be competent and organized in visual documentation and communication styles, carrying and translating game documents between departments within the company. They bring knowledge of commercial game development, especially in VR. They are up to date on best practices and are able to work within an agile team, clearly communicating and understanding technical concepts in a professional and respectful manner.

Responsibilities
Work closely with the design team to conceptualize, prototype, and implement into production the overall game mechanics, player interactions, and game systems.
Create and update clear game design documentation and processes for communication between design, art, and engineer teams.
Collaborate with artists and engineers to create game environments, puzzles, and level designs that emphasize the strengths of the core gameplay.
Be involved in the QA process of testing, feedback analyzing, and balancing of gameplay.
Help team plan and implement new features or game releases.
Participate in standups and weekly sprint meetings (online and in-person).
Track tasks and update development timelines, provide informed time estimates and or due dates for visibility and planning purposes.
Requirements
2+ years of professional experience in a similar game designer role.
Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of game mechanics and multiplayer games.
Experience with VR applications/games from concept to launch.
Skills in documentation for game design ideas in a visual and/or effective manner.
Understanding of Unity engine to prototype in game.
Ability to adapt to rapid development cycles and multitask in a cross-functional team.
Proactive mentality, with attention to detail and problem solving skills.
Punctual with deadlines, while clearly showing visibility into statuses using CMS tools.
Track record of successfully working on teams sharing, helping, collaborating within a team to work together toward a common goal with a “we” mentality.
Nice to Haves
Experience with SteamVR/OpenVR and HTC Vive VR Products
Experience working in a teams that are remote and in office.
Experience using Monday, Git, Slack
Owns a VR headset and passion for gaming in immersive environments
Experience with live entertainment experiences and effect technology
Understanding of fabrication processes and physical design limitations when completing a product design

Portfolio should demonstrate evidence of clear and concise game documentation at a minimum of 3 key intervals of a game design process, from concept, through design to implementation of design choices. Submission should also highlight how changes or iterations of design concepts were actively recorded and implemented.
Location:
Office is located in Vancouver, B.C.
Hybrid work environment but must be living in BC as a citizen, PR or have a valid work permit (preference given to those living in Vancouver area).
Salary
$60k-80k annually + benefits (and stock options)
