Technical Artist
Immersive Tech is growing fast and we’re looking for a skilled Technical Artist to join our team in Vancouver. The role is the connector of the Art and Programmer teams, providing tools for the artist and effectively integrating assets into the project. Responsibilities:
Ability to brainstorm, R&D, and implement various project pipelines and toolsets.
Work with artists to identify and solve technical problems with existing tools
Support in content creation when needed (such as such as 3D modelling and texturing, rigging, scripting animation, shaders, effects, and level optimization)
Provide support for the technical art team in engine debugging and R&D
Acquire a strong knowledge of the engine tools and framework and be able to explain how they work to content creators
Seek out and fix performance issues including, but not limited to: framerate issues, memory problems, material errors, and collision issues
Act as a liaison between art, design, and engineering
What you will bring:
2-3 Years of game or VR industry experience
Minimum 2-year 2D/3D art, design, or computer science degree, or equivalent experience with excellent critique and vocabulary skills. Bachelors a plus.
Scripting knowledge (Python, C#, Javascript, MAX Script, MEL)
Working knowledge of at least one DCC package (Maya, Substance Painter, Photoshop preferred)
Experience managing multiple GIT branches and merging assets between branches
Previous experience with a AAA game engine (Unity is a requirement)
Proactive mentality, with attention to detail and problem solving skills to unblock team members.
Proven strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills
Ability to adapt to rapid development cycles and multitask in a cross-functional team.
Up to date knowledge of current art techniques and development processes, such as VR pipelines with ability to understand and help contribute to innovative pipelines.
Strong PBR and HDR knowledge
Track record of successfully working on teams sharing, helping, collaborating within a team to work together toward a common goal with a “we” mentality.
Nice-to-have Skills:
Experience creating shaders
Experience in animation
Experience with Virtual Reality games and applications

Hybrid work environment but must be living in BC as a citizen, PR or have a valid work permit (preference given to those living in Vancouver area).
Salary:
$60k-80k annually + benefits (and stock options)
Compensation commensurate with experience.
